Houses

A home is a single-family residence. Its complexity can range from a simple hut to a substantial building made of wood, masonry, concrete, or another material and supplied with plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

Apartments

An apartment, also known as a flat, is a self-contained dwelling unit (a form of residential real estate) that is located on a single storey of a structure. These overarching structures are known by a variety of names, as seen below. Apartment housing tenure also varies significantly, ranging from large-scale public housing to owner occupation within what is officially a condominium to renters renting from a private landlord (see leasehold estate).

Cottages

A cottage is a common phrase for a modest dwelling. This term is derived from England, where it refers to a home with one main floor and a second, lower storey of bedrooms that fit beneath the roof upstairs. In many regions, the term “cottage” refers to a little old-fashioned residence.
